To avoid any unwelcome surprises, we use a progression model to closely monitor the progress of our projects. The model results in status information and metrics that help us take corrective measures when necessary, as well as celebrate important milestones. We believe that you can only manage a project effectively if you have access to the right data, and know which tasks are falling behind (and why), and what problems, issues and risks remain to be dealt with.
